Better Weather, Thank Heavens!

2 September 2006

It was windy as anything last night, and once it sounded like we may’ve gotten hit by a small twister, but everything seems to’ve survived quite nicely here.  It was still nasty when I got up, but by the time we headed to Dover, it’d quit raining and the wind had calmed down.

Well, until we were about 3/4 of the way there, at which point we drove right back into the heavy wind and rain.  It was that way the whole time we were at the restaurant, and for a few minutes after we left, but by the time we got to Tractor Supply to get a lawnmower part, the sky was starting to show blue.  (We’d tried to go to Wal-Mart, but they had no power; hopefully tomorrow!)

As predicted, there were no yard sales (darn it!), but Mr. E got the lawnmower repaired and tested while I went through my old clothes to see if (a) anything would fit again and (b) my changing tastes had left me willing to actually wear any of it.  All the slacks were out, since back when I got them, women’s slacks didn’t have pockets, and I’m no longer willing to put up with that inconvenience.  Tops fared a little better; at least, 4 of them survived the weeding-out process, and one of them I really like.  With my tatting-trimmed T-shirts, I’m in pretty good shape shirt-wise, but I’m down to 3 pairs of slacks that aren’t falling off and have pockets.  At least I found a few websites that re-introduced me to what measurements equate to what women’s sizes!

I seem to be rambling, I’m afraid, so I’d best close and hope to do better tomorrow.
