Rose Bush Victory

1 October 2006

Or at least I’m hoping so!  Mr. Empire pulled the stump out with the car — a 2-1/2 ton station wagon didn’t have a great deal of trouble, though he said if it didn’t have positrac, it would’ve been more difficult.

Several of the roots broke off when it came loose — not surprising, I suppose — so I spent about the next hour digging down as far as I could with a large trowel, then whacked ‘em off at least 6" underground before filling the hole back in.  I’m hoping that takes care of it completely and nothing grows back, but I’m going to be keeping a careful eye on that area just in case.

Not that I have the slightest idea what to use to kill a rosebush that’s stubborn enough to come back from "pruning" that drastic!  There’s got to be something, I’m sure; next time I see Carl or Audrey, I’ll have to ask if they have any ideas.
