Hey, sorry to hear the shutdown, guess I didn't help much either. Good luck and hope I see you around the blogosphere. Not posting anywhere right now but reading a lot.

CC -- glad you thought it appropriate to start with -- I love them too, and think there aren't enough of the background books.

Sorry to hear you got kicked out over there. Agree on your desire not to go into it further, since I don't care for inter-blog spats, and like you, would much rather discuss SF and fantasy.

As I mentioned, if you care to do any guest reviews, you're most welcome to put them up or send them to me to put on the front page.

On a side note, I am no longer a member of the forum where we met. I was removed recently, don't really know why but will respect the wishes of the blog owner. I won't bring it up here again as I would rather spend my time here taking Sci/Fi/Fantasy.

Couldn't agree more! Great first choice for the restart. Love the background information stories on the long saga's that I've read.

That's not too reassuring you know! This thing did survive being whacked off as close to ground level as I could get it with loppers and a hacksaw (don't have a chainsaw). But there wasn't all that much coming back up, and what did got hit with poison ivy killer (2,4D), so I'm hoping that yanking it up by the roots will solve the problem.

I've got some azaleas that are a lit like your rose bushes. Last year, after the hurricane, I had a big tree fall into 6 of my azaleas and crunched 'em up pretty good. They were badly overgrown anyway. So, I took my chainsaw and cut those suckers down to the ground. Thought that was that. But you should see them now. They're at least three feet tall, and going strong. Heh.

Yeah, I'll go along with your #1, but I've not yet seen Ed mention the Delmarva Peninsula, so I have to go by other reports. The track at the moment shows it heading west of us. That's good because it'll weaken over land, but on the other hand, the east side is the stronger one.

Either way, it looks like it's shaping up to be a stormy weekend.

Here's what Ed is saying this morning:
Ernesto finally looks to be picking up strength per satellite loop, and reformation of center closer to thunderstorms Northeast of original LLCS means an extra couple of hours to intensify before hitting near Miami

Again, for Florida, not a super-mondo deal, but a good excuse to stay home from work.
